Join Northampton Prevention Coalition, Northampton Public Schools, Community Action, and the youth group Shout Out as we screen the groundbreaking documentary Paper Tigers. Paper Tigers follows six students at an alternative high school in Washington as they grapple with their education while navigating trauma, family dysfunction, and societal woes. Lincoln High School’s staff tries a new approach to discipline: one based on understanding and treatment rather than judgement and suspension. Paper Tigers is a testament to what the latest developmental science is showing: that just one caring adult can help break the cycle of adversity in a young person’s life. Facilitated discussion to follow. FREE and OPEN to the public. Content includes language, discussion of violence and other potential triggers. Viewer discretion is advised.
